home again...

Spanish intelude was brief but very good.

The journey back didn't feel much like either of those two things, with very strong head winds that buffeted and slapped the plane in a sometimes scary way. And I must make a note that one should not read Jorge Luis Borges while the airplane you're in is being shaken and thrown about by elemental forces.

The chief hostess seemed to share the feeling I had about some of the people on board when she announced that "the cabin lights would be turned off, which is standard flight procedure; passengers could switch on the reading lights overhead by pressing the corresponding button (and, then, through clenched teeth:) THE ONE WITH THE LITTLE PICTURE OF A LIGHT BULB..."
