Odd that the American TV series has much more depth and complexity of characters than the literary book I was reading, where there are definite heroes and villains, the characters are wholly good or wholly evil. Fascinating and horrid story about the suppression of the Albigensi heresy, another show of what evil people can do when they think god is whispering in their ear that they are just and those across the road who are a little different, are evil because of that. And the famous quote by the Christian commander (or the bishop, I forget now), when told that if they kill all 20,000 people in the city they are about to take, they will be killing many Christians as well as heretics, “God will sort out his own. Kill them all...”
