Roger Waters - The Wall - Echoes of Flavio's Ghost Dreaming
Roger Waters - The Wall
Ok, so I didn't die without having seen The Wall, if not of course in the original Pink Floyd incarnation in Earl's Ct., and of course not without its flaws but in any case quite relevant and still by a very long way the best bit of popular music theatre I've ever seen.

One thing that left me thinking is that, in the intermission, after the long list of people killed or disappeared by their various governments, I had to go to the loo and in the queue the people were just enthused by the technical and technological wizardry on display -and, it seemed to me, thus missing the point of what the artist was trying to say. Never mind...

We're off to see it tonight - massively looking forward to it!

And I dunno, Floyd have always been about technical proficiency, and hence have always attracted nerds who are far more fascinated with the light show than the content.

Not to mention the Wall is about an artists who feels trapped onstage in an elaborate show, unable to break through or make himself truly understood by his fans, so perhaps it's apt, in an ironic way. :)

I can see that, you have a point there... well, it's a show about alienation...

BTW you might get Dave Gilmour on guitar tonight, since he wasn't last night and there's been a persistent rumour that he'd said he'd appear in the show in London.

I would absolutely explode if that happened! :)

Yep, I'm off to see the show on Sunday. They're filming all six nights, so Mr Gilmour will almost certainly appear in London.

He certainly did... :D

Phenomenal show, one of the best gigs I've ever been to!

Quote from the Jounalist I told you about earlier
"Mr Gilmour & Mr Mason on stage with Mr Waters tonight. Pigs have flown again."

Well, I missed that by one day but never mind. It was a fantastic show.

Glad it was good, we're taking my stepfather who always raves about seeing the original in the 70s as a belated birthday present next week.

I think people's immediate reaction to spectacle will almost always be 'ooh, look at the pretty lights', but hopefully the deeper point stays with them too.

It is a very good show. Not exempt of flaws, by any means but a very good show indeed. A friend of mine back in Vz, who'd seen the original Earls Court show, used to rave about it as well, even though he was no Floyd fan.

It is not exactly the most cheerful happy music show you will see, though!:D
