Sunday was a bit different to what I had planned I had thought of going to the West Dean Guitar Summer School's open day, maybe the last big (comparatively) big classical event in the summer here -a friend from Venezuela and his amazing guitarist wife from Germany were teaching and playing there. In the end, though, I didn't find anybody to go with and couldn't face that long drive on my own. So instead I just went over to the Heath with a guitar and practised guitar sitting at a bench, watched a folk band playing some Swedish instrument that was like half-rebec, half hurdy-gurdy. Then I met a friend for Pimm's at a pub across from Parliament Hill fields. Still ended up being a good day, on the whole.
It has been very strange in the last few days, though, due to the situation where I live. Five burglaries in the space of three weeks. And the measures taken to improve security reminded me that, as a shared-ownership flat leaseholder, I'm a second class citizen in the very place where I live. More on that in another post.
