Echoes of Flavio's Ghost Dreaming

Friday unfolds slowly and nicely thus far, with a sunny morning and not much to do for a couple of hours except for a couple of errands. Later on, a few lessons away. Should try and go to the gym/ pool, haven't been since I twisted my ankle and that's over three weeks now.

Last night, a very sparsely attended GS meet at the Pipeline. Enjoyed the company but the place is a little bit too loud, a little bit soulless, although the leather sofas are comfy. pir had a Nexus 7 which I didn't get to see at close quarters let alone play with but looked good. I'm not going to exchange my iPad for a Nexus 7 any time now but I do believe Apple needs a more credible alternative than there has been until now. A bit like Venezuela, in which Chávez didn't seem to have much of an opposition until now, which generates all kinds of distortions. It is healthy that there are alternatives, different possibilities and discussion. In the case of my country of origin, this does seem to be happening.

Now, out into the morning sunshine and do things!

The Pipeline's an OK bar but over-priced and serves crap cider. I've been there for a few friends' birthdays/wedding receptions and it is great if you can hire the whole place out to yourselves and put DJs/bands on. But I'm not sure it's somewhere I would choose to go for a post-work pint or whatever.
