Three sets of fifteen.... - Echoes of Flavio's Ghost Dreaming
Three sets of fifteen....

As I wheeze on the cross trainer (which I suppose is the machine I hate the least in the gym's repertoire), I notice an oriental girl in black doing impossible things with gym equipment some distance away. And, furthermore, she is enjoying what she's doing. Probably nearly as much as I loathe the whole gym, beneficial as I know it to be and all...

Ah. The pleasure/pain principle: For one to enjoy another has to suffer. Heh heh ):)

I know it is not much condolence to you now but most excercise programs take some time before obvious benefits become apparant. Stick at it :)

Never thought of it as a zero-sum game....

If you are wheezing you are going too fast and it won't help. Slow down or lower the difficulty, it's all about maintaining the right heart rate for your age.

I am still enjoying the gym, especially the crosstrainer which feels the most like dancing. But I'm also loving the pull up machine as it makes me feel like Linda Hamilton even though I'm cheating ;)

Well, perhaps 'wheezing' was a bit of literary licence... I am aware of the issues you mention and have mentioned to the Doctor (no, not _that_ Dr:!) about my gong to the gym and what I do there and she's ok with it

I was a bit more pissed off than usual as I had had a couple of semi-encounters with rather very rude people there..

Yes, the cross trainer is the machine I get on better with. True, I spend that half an hour reading...

You manage better than me, I can't read on them as I'm bouncing up and down to much I can't keep my eyes focused on the page, even when I'm on the stationary bike I can't manage to read. But I also tend to go too fast on the cross trainer if I don't keep an eye on the HR monitor so I just watch that instead and listen to music.

I hate rude people at the gym. Had some woman yelling at me a few weeks back for using "her" changing room when she'd left her clothes in there. I tried to explain that if she didn't want that to happen all she had to do was put it in the locker as that's what they are there for! Then there are the annoying people who ask about my tattoos. Or just refuse to get out the way. Or use the machine for ages when it's really busy and the signs say to limit to 20 minutes!

Hm, guess where I'm heading now?

Argh, had written a long comment and it vanished when I tried to post it.

I was guessing it might be World Con, except that's not today, only next year.

And the encounter of yesterday's was exactly as you described, except with a man probably a third of my age and many times my strength, which in retrospect is probably not wise to engage in confrontation with somebody like that....

That was happening to me last night. :( LJ was having one of it's special moments.

Lols no, just to the gym. Which thankfully wasn't too annoying yesterday.

Yeah that doesn't sound nice at all! That really sucks. The woman who had a go at me was also much younger than me and was telling me off like I was one of her kids but I just wasn't having it. I hate getting into confrontations with people but I just get so stubborn I refuse to back down. Thankfully Anki was there and after crazy woman had left her and I had a nice chat and so felt much calmer after that.

Yeah, I know exactly how I'm going to die -beaten up by some thug... I have the rather unlucky combination of being quite cowardly and having a very short fuse ...

Anki goes to the same gym? That's good.. mutual moral support and that:) :)

I can totally relate to that!

Yeah, her, Ray, Bill and my cousins girlfriend all have membership there so chances are good that I run into someone I know. Though they don't seem to go as often as I do ;)
