Saturday brought the Hampstead Alternative Picnic again. It was not a very big event this time, understandably given the weather on the day but it was a good gathering and it didn't rain.
On Sunday I went, together with two pupils, to the Open Day of the West Dean Classical Guitar Festival. I had fun, as did my pupils, met some old faces (and some really are now old faces,. which is strange and is also a sort of mirror held to your own face), saw a couple of very good performances and a couple just as interesting informal ones. I still left feeling that I love that world but, much as often happens to me with the goth scene, also a feeling with it that I don't wholly belong. I could elaborate on this, I think I know what makes me feel like this but I'll leave it at that for now. Still, it was a lovely day and I really should go to the full event next year.
